CELEBRATION OF SHIRLEY’S LIFE SERVICE: 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, IL with Bro Phil Boyd officiating.  Burial to follow in the Yager Cemetery.

Shirley Gail Yager, 57, of Oblong, IL., passed away at 10:09 a.m. Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon, IL surrounded by her family.  Born in Olney, IL. on February 23, 1957, she was the daughter of George “Sonny” Yager and Ida Imogene (Gasso) Yager.

Shirley attended Oblong Schools; was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ste. Marie, IL; was a CNA at several nursing homes in the area as well as in home care.  She was an avid animal lover; enjoyed being outside, gardening and 4 wheeling.  Shirley enjoyed being a kid with her grandkids.

Survivors include her father, George “Sonny” Yager, Willow Hill, IL.; five daughters and sons-in-law: Anna and Jamee Huber, Angie and Rodney Shook, all of Oblong, IL.; G. G. and Eric Smithenry, Newton, IL.; Rikki Jo and Mike Jones and Savannah Pearl Yager, also of Oblong, IL; one brother and sister-in-law Donnie and Dana Yager, Willow Hill.; two sisters and a brother-in-law Darlene and Kevin Dart, Oblong, IL; and Gloria Kay Litzelman, Ste. Marie, IL.; 11 grandchildren: Austin Ray Adams, Ashlee Marie Huber, Desarae Lynn Seamon, Meaghan Renee Shook, Trevor Duane Richard Shook, Carter James Smithnery, Alysen Paige Burke, Aireka Mashell Burke, Jeighlyn Marie Yoder, Chase Allan Jones, and Paightyn Ann Jones; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, great nieces and great nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, Ida Imogene Yager; grandparents, George O and Margaret Yager and Jack and Winnie Gasso.
